Mission Statement

The Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists is an open and diverse group of artists, collectors and admirers who share a love for the practice and perpetuation of botanical art and illustration with a fond focus on plants in the Rocky Mountain Region.
We encourage and participate in educational outreach, juried and non-juried exhibits, lectures, workshops and regular chapter meetings. The RMSBA is proud to be the very first chapter affiliation of the international organization, the American Society of Botanical Artists.

High on Botanicals - Exhibit This Friday, Pick-up On Saturday.

This exhibit closes August 29th.  The feedback I have received was all very complimentary.  I believe some bin work was sold but as of today no original works were sold. We need to pick up our framed and bin work on Saturday August 30th between 11 AM - 4 PM.  I know some of you have already made arrangements for others to pick up your work.  If you are not able to pick up your art you must make arrangements for someone else to get it as the gallery owner does not have the space to store it.

I will be at the gallery for a few hours to assist. Let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you all for your participation, I am looking forward to our next show.

You NEED to Join This Party!

Check out our chief carpenters Becky Hall and Vanessa Martin, as they prepare treats for the ASBA Conference attendees! Sawdust and all, they're having a party! You can help too, on September 6, 2014, when they'll need our help to stamp and finish these favors. Contact Vanessa HERE and let her know you'll be there at 10 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2014, to give her and Becky a much needed hand in finishing work.

Who ARE these masked creators?!!!

Vanessa and Becky are 'hard' at work as is obvious from their enormous smiles.

Changes and Excitement and HELP!

Well, the ASBA Conference is on its way to Denver, and there are 204 registrants! Amazing!

We're so excited to present our Botanical Art with Altitude event for the ASBA. And so excited to find so many people will be here to share it.

So, to accommodate upcoming Conference needs, the following changes have been made:

The August Member Meeting is CANCELLED. It WAS scheduled for Labor Day weekend, which will limit participation.

It has been MOVED to SEPTEMBER 6, 2014 at 10 AM, at Vanessa Martin's home. She and Becky Hall have been working over the summer to create the favor for each registered participant at the Conference. Now, they need help. At this meeting, members will help sand, stamp and finish (spray coat) the items in Vanessa's back yard.

Come in old clothes, bring a sack lunch, roll up your sleeves and jump in! The favors are made from beetle-kill wood, and you're gonna love them, but we don't want to spoil the surprise for attendees by posting the details here. If work is not finished on the 6th, we'll be looking for folks to help on the 7th. Job needs to be finished up, and we can't do it without you!

Please contact Vanessa HERE to let her know you'll be there, and for driving instructions if you need them.

THANK YOU in advance. This will be fun, and you will love the items we're working on.

In Just 141 Days, All THIS can be YOURS!

Or at least, it can be yours on behalf of your fellow members at RMSBA. We are looking for a new Blogmeister! Libby has produced and managed our blog for the last 3 years, and it's time for a break! However, she's happy to shepherd a new Blogmeister into easy and fun understanding and use of the blog design tools provided by Blogger, and to provide some ideas for future interesting and informative spots on the blog to get our new leader started.

You'll learn how to quickly and easily add TEXT! You can format and finesse it to your heart's content.
TEXT text TeXtInG text-ify TEXT

You'll learn about using images!  Big and bold,

delicate,

 black and white,

or with colored backgrounds,
 .
You can create links to take people to places you want to SHARE, or that are IMPORTANT to our members, or that are just plain FUN. (Hint: click on each blue word to find something Libby wants to share, thinks is important, or is just plain fun. That's how links work! Isn't that easy!)

What do you need to help you decide if you want to start this blog adventure? A computer! Internet connection! Image program - like Photoshop Basics or any bitmap image management program! Your current Blogmeister has used CorelDraw's PhotoPaint for all the blog entries she's completed, and any image program can size a picture for use in the blog.

If you've wanted to have your own blog or web page, and didn't really have a starting place, this site is a perfect place to learn the basics of creating a presence online. Now's your chance for guided entry to a really fun process.

So, the countdown has begun!!! There are 141 days left until the end of the year. Just think of all  you can learn during this time to become the NEW & IMPROVED RMSBA Blogmeister. To get started, just click HERE and Libby will give you the details. Hurry! This opportunity won't last forever. I mean, it'll last for 141 days and counting down, which may seem like forever, but we all know the winter holidays are galloping towards us. Act now!
