So Much for Your Flowering Trees & Tender Bulbs

Member Meeting March 26: Well, we had a lovely meeting at Lakewood Library. Space a little cramped, but we adjust so well. Interesting what we got to see: Carol Till brought some monoprint variations by substrate; Heidi Snyder brought two CP landscapes from nature: a footprint portrait (2”x3” presented at 11”x14”) of lichens, bryophytes, and pine needles, and a tree-trunk squirrel-cache of Ponderosa at familiar scale; Teresa Burkert brought some evocative CP winter vegetable portraits. Whoever I missed, contact me here and I’ll provide the proper citation.

ASBA Exhibits. Just want to say, we out-here-in-the-provinces-botanical-artists pay a pile to ASBA every year, and we ought to take advantage of their offerings and opportunities. Those folks aren’t doin’ this for their health; they’re trying to help us all out. Let yourself be helped. Consider: Out of the Woods; the International Day of Botanical Art; and assorted other opportunities you may find cited here. Please, please check out opportunities at the Mother Ship (ASBA).

22nd St Entry

Open Studio again available. The Mercury Café, 22^nd St & California St, Denver, is host for Open Studio opportunities. Please advise here if you are interested in participating on April 12, tentatively 10 am – 2 pm. Parking is available, street (2-hour) and adjacent lot. Further information to interested parties. Expect either Martha Narey or Eileen Richardson as studio host. We hope to continue a second-Wednesday opportunity, as demand would have it. Bring your problems and your triumphs, your trials and your explorations. We wanna see your stuff! We want to share what we’ve learned, too. Join us.

Easiest access from the north side (I70; I25 SB) come in off I25 SB at 20^th St [Coors Field] and keep straight through (right lane) to California St.; from the south side (I25 NB Colfax exit/US85/Santa Fe Dr NB, right on 14^th Ave, left on Lincoln St, oblique left on 20^th St, right on Welton St, left on 22^nd St.). If you thought you knew downtown by landmarks, you’re in for some surprise: everything is somewhere else – and everything else is 5 stories tall.

RARE II 

closes in Boulder at the CU Museum of Natural History on March 31, and opens again to the public in Fort Collins at the Museum of Discovery on May 6. Anticipate a reception on May 5. More information forthcoming.

Cannabis exhibit. Well, more moles keep sticking their heads up, and Vanessa (our President) is laboring mightily with the mallet to drive them back down. Think whack-a-mole. You might send Management a Message of Intent to Enter about your proposed participation in the Cannabis: a Visual Perspective exhibit. Entry date has been postponed to June 15, 2017, so you still have plenty of time. Did you know that Ida Pemberton herself produced three Cannabis plates? They have ‘em at CU!
